Commercial Restaurant Design for Jollibee of Jacksonville FL

Jollibee®s is the largest fast-food restaurant chain in Asia and the 9th largest in the world; larger than Burger King and it is loved by customers. ACT's Managing Member, Brad Hollett, traveled to California prior to construction to get a sense of how current restaurants were built and to improve inefficiencies. Jollibee®s new prototype design with extended angled front soffit on outside of the building presented several challenges to the design. The first was how to structurally hold such a large wing to an existing block wall, that was not designed to hold those kinds of pressures. The next challenge was how to be able to handle the large amounts of rain and remove it from this extended soffit in a manner that was hidden from the public view. ACT worked diligently and was able to overcome these challenges in a functional but beautiful completed design. The opening week drew in record crowds selling over $350,000. The store has continued to be a favorite in Jacksonville. The first Jollibee® store in the USA was opened in 1998 in Daly City, California. Catering to the Filipino and Filipino-American families living in the area, Jollibee® brought them the familiar feeling of home.
